8:29 PM 8/5/2017 Four Buffynicities tonight, if I can remember them:
Buffynicity #1: For the last couple of days I have been visualizing scenes from my Heptalogy with renewed vigor. Especially yesterday I was thinking of one in which the princess revives her boyfriend with a kiss, just like Aura does for Flash in Flash Gordon (1980). Tonight Inira finds Mal unconscious and kisses him, or gives him mouth-to-mouth, which revives him but knocks her out.

I fell asleep before I finished. Right now I’m going to catch up with aspects before I go on … or maybe not. My head hurts, or there’s some kind of flowing or flooding of information making me crazy. I’m making the transition to channeling now. Maybe I’ll even wind up channeling on this blog regularly, or using my wordpress blog for that purpose. There’s so much going on this afternoon, I feel pretty overwhelmed.
Buffynicity #2: True to form for Capricorn Moon, my iPod broke as got to Flashback Weekend. It had worked fine earlier that morning as I was leaving for the show; I listened to it walking to the car. Then, as soon as I parked at the Rosemont station and started walking to the hotel, only one headphone worked. At first I thought it was my headphones, but they work on other devices. So here’s more trouble with material possessions on a Capricorn Moon. Considering that my iPod is nine years old, I think it’s held up pretty well. I have found a place that will probably be able to fix it relatively cheap, and even if they can’t I have a newer iPod touch which will hold all the music I actually listen to, not to mention my phone which has Apple Music Service. AMS has 90 percent of the music I listen to, only a few rarities still make my iPod necessary anyway.
But god damn Capricorn Moons, anyway. The Buffynicity is that when I thought my headphones were broken I was jiggling the wire around to make the contact and I got some good listening time by holding the wire in place. I was thinking about getting a rubber band or some tape or something to hold the wire. And then in the episode I watched yesterday Jayne was taping a gun to his ribs because the town they were heading to didn’t allow guns. This is kind of minor but the awkward taping thing struck me as the same.
Buffynicity #3: In the main episode I watched yesterday there’s a town that makes Jayne into their hero just becuase he did a heist there that went bad. I felt the theme of heroes was related to the thoughts I was having about the entertainment business at Flashback Weekend. Also, I was thinking a lot about “the princess” from my heptalogy, as I wrote in Buffynicity #1, and one of her other boyfriends gets made into a hero just like Jayne. That was a major theme of the last several days – thinking about these scenes with the princess and these two heroes who attain mythic status in the community. It might not seem very specific to anyone else but it was a powerful resonance for me.
Buffynicity #4: This was the monster Buffynicity of the day: I saw Lance Henriksen’s panel and he was talking about how much he loves making pottery and ceramics. He said he was pretty obsessive about it and he said with ceramics you get three things: clay, fire, and time.
Then in the episode I watched just six hours later, they’re heading into Canton:
SIMON
So, this is a place where they…
they make mud.
KAYLEE
Yep. Clay really. You’d be surprised how
many things it ends up in. Serenity’s got
more than a few ceramic parts in her.
Also, relating to my thoughts about the heroes in my heptalogy, I had been thinking about the famous muddy brick-making scenes in The Ten Commandments, with Charlton Heston.
So that was absolutely a major ass-stopming synchronicity.
Buffynicity #5: Kind of minor. Sean Patrick Flannery was joking that in high school his nickname was BAWG – “below-average white guy”. In the episode that night I was surprised to hear the word in this line –
WELL-DRESSED MAN
The kind where they hacked off his hands and feet with
a machete, rolled him into the bog.
But I didn’t attach major significance to it. However it is definitely Buffynicitous because they used the word twice:
WELL-DRESSED MAN
Listen, friend. I came here to make sure a deal
went down solid, not to get chopped up by the
Canton prod crew and fed to the bog.
Buffynicity #6: Another minor one, I stopped at Taco Bell on the way to the convention and had a breakfast burrito, the first time I have had scrambled eggs in a while. Then Jayne was asking for eggs –
JAYNE
(singing)
My love for me now ain’t hard to explain
The Hero of Canton
The man they call…ME
(speaking, now)
Eggs. The living legend needs eggs.
Or maybe another milk.
Buffynicity #7: Tonight I finished that episode and started another, all about FLASHBACKS. Yes, it’s true, it’s the day after I went to Flashback Weekend and I started an episode in which entirely based on Mal being alone on the ship having a continuous stream of Flashbacks. So this one is pretty spectacular, too. I have been keeping up one major Buffynicity per day for a while now.
I was actually about to write that I didn’t have any Buffynicities at all in this episode, only after I started writing did I realize that the flashbacks themselves were Buffynicitous. So once again “they” demonstrate the need for me to keep writing about my experiences event though it can seem tedious sometimes.
Buffynicity #8: This episode, “Out of Gas” is about how Mal assembles his crew. I feel like my angels are “coming down” now and we are going to start acting more like a crew. But I’m not going into much more detail about that now except to note that the theme of the episode is appropriate for the effect this weekend has had on me.
Now on to aspects…
