These thoughts, whether from inside me or from external things, soon become too intense.

All Night Long
I owe myself a couple of extra posts so I’m catching up tonight. I did go to the health club and make some to-do lists, but other than that I’ve been poring over my Pinterest boards all day, contemplating the meaning of civilization. It really does change the way I see my pop-art preoccupations to post so many pictures of them. It helps me get a psychic perspective – literally a clearer sense of distance from these images and habits of thought and emotion. It’s so amazing that these people did these things they’re famous for and for which they’ve been photographed so often, but 90 percent of the benefit I got from them was some inner psychic reaction and had nothing to do with them.
So where’s the magic that all the legends said would lie within the process of self-expression? Is anything these people do interesting without that 20th century myth of personality? Entertainment is just entertainment now, and if artists were the most fascinating people of the 20th century, entertainers may be the most boring, tedious drones of the 21st.
I don’t care. I’ve given up on collective magic – there’s only money in this world, which is farcically absurd because telepathy is real and magic is real and miracles could be worked in this time, but if they are it will only be a trickle, for the life-path of the ordinary world is to be corporate drones, drowning in a lukewarm bath of prolefeed swill.
As I’ve noted before, I find it ironic that our American legion of “Media Messengers” bringing us the new spirituality would insist that we are “cocreating” at exactly the time that art and artists are more limited in their subject matter than they have ever been. Global culture is utterly oppressive and futureless. I’m posting on Pinterest not to express myself, but to find my way out of the trivial wilderness of mass media.
