I”m experimenting with ways to post to tumblr.  I tried an audio post this afternoon via the 1-800 line, but it didn’t work.  I just took this picture with my tablet.  I plan to write a whole article about how utterly full of crap this cover story is, and tabloids are in general, and how a lot of people who write for them are a lower form of life.  There’s a situation in America that may kill everything left of our way of life, where the worst slime of all of us get on the web and dominate the reporting because no one else wants to bother to write about what’s going on. This tabloid mentality is the reason Trump could get the Republican nomination and the reason he’s going to continue to be a force in American politics.

It’s so much worse than the days before the web.

I can remember when tabloids weren’t taken seriously.  Up through the 1980′s the mainstream just ignored them.  But then the economics of mass media shifted and the National Enquirer and other such magazines became a serious influence in popular culture – and popular culture has suffered as a result.  The dumbing down of America is complete, and the bad guys won.  Our shared existence as Americans is taking place at the bottom of a river of media sewage and mentally it’s driving people back into the dark ages.

Even if I can’t do anything about it, posting like this on the web is helping me to keep myself from getting dragged down with everybody else, so I’m going to continue.
