The Buffy Diaries 7-6-2017

The Moon inconjuncting Mars felt pretty good.  I’ve recovered from my holiday weekend, I’m ahead on paperwork and stuff, my day at work went pretty smooth, I’ve got lots of money and I’m really enjoying The Darkening, really living in it, gettting deeper into my characters and the magical meaning of them, and I’m also enjoying listening to Sisters of Mercy all the time.

The Moon is conjuncting Saturn in about twenty minutes and I will be working on the first sex scene in the Darkening, which is related to

Buffynicity #1:  A sex scene came into my head today, and I have various ideas for it, but when I got home tonight I wrote these lines:

He pushed her so that she shifted onto the desk.  He stood between her legs, and pushed her onto her back, lifted her dress, and pulled her panties up around her thighs.  She moaned softly as he slid inside her.

Then when during tonight’s episode, there was this line:

ANYA
All I’m saying is soulless Spike would have had me upside down and half way to happy land by now.

So this is good, it shows the genuine telepathy of the scenes I’m writing, because the image of Victor turning Jenny “upside down" came to me very specifically and also affirms my decision to try to write a lot of sex into The Darkening in general.

Buffynicity #2: I was looking at a website about the Goth subculture today and I saw this magazine:  http://coilhouse.net/ .  Then in tonight’s episode there was this line:

CASSIE
(mocking) Oh, baby, you left such a big hole. It hurt so bad. (serious, leans in) You don’t know hurt. This last year’s gonna seem like cake after what I put you and your friends through, and I am not a fan of easy death. Fact is, the whole good-versus-evil, balancing the scales thing—I’m over it. I’m done with the mortal coil. But believe me, I’m going for a big finish.

So the mention of a "coil” was a minor Buffynicity.

Buffynicity #3: I’ve been listening to the Aimee Mann song “Pavlov’s Bell” quite a bit this week, and tonight I watched the episode in which it was featured.

Buffynicity #4: Today I was looking up the script for Taxi Driver, looking up Travis Bickle’s cool monologues.  His famous line is “are you talking to me?  I’m the only one here."  And in tonight’s episode Spike was talking to himself almost like that, talking to Spike-2 about very smilar things.

Those are good Buffynicities and I’m very glad that my sex scene resonated telepathically, precognitively with the episode.  I’m going to go work on writing it some more.

Mercury sextiling Venus, Moon trining Uranus and squaring Chiron, something very intense will happen in the morning, and then the Moon will enter Capricorn so it seems like something concrete will take place.  Moon inconjuncting Venus and Mercury in the evening promises a good time, if I survive the morning.
