A massive quadruple-literary series of Buffynicities tonight. This one is pretty amazing.
Buffynicity #1:
First, this morning I had a dream that I was working somewhere. I was actually going to a factory or something to talk to the “gatekeeper”, the guy who sat in the security booth to ask him questions, getting clues to solve a murder or missing-person’s case. He was kind of downtrodden and you could tell by his hip-hugger jeans that he was really into sex, or wanted to be anyway.
Then a little while later I was working in some kind of trailer, like a mobile lab or machine shop or something, and then Buffy walked in with a couple of other people, and she was my new boss. This was cool, I woke up and I suspected Buffy was actually Kara, or possibly one of my other angels.
Then in tonight’s episode:
BUFFY
It’s more than that. Look, Robin, I, um, I had a vision the other day.
ROBIN WOOD
You have visions?
BUFFY
Sometimes. (nods)
ROBIN WOOD
Oh. Well, how do you know that they’re not just dreams?
BUFFY
You’re running to catch the bus naked? That’s a dream. Army of vicious vampire creatures? That’s a vision. Also, I was awake.
I’ll have to think about what it means, personally, but the reference to dreams is valid.
Especially since later in the episode:
TITLE: Somewhere in Mexico, 2002.
Andrew and Jonathan are sharing a bed. They are tossing and turning in thier sleep. As they sleep, a voice speaks in their dreams as images appear, flashing from one to the other rapidly. The whole dream sequence lasts approximately ten seconds.
Buffynicity #2: – a really spectacular one.
Immediately following, they’re discussing the symbol on the floor,
ROBIN WOOD
Now, have you ever really studied it? You know, gotten close? (kneels on the seal)
BUFFY
Well, I know it’s a goat with its tongue out. Uh, Willow did a search on the symbolic database, but it turns out everybody loves a good goat’s tongue. Rock groups, covens and greek cookbooks. She said she couldn’t narrow it down.
On the way home from work today I stopped at Half-Price books and I was sitting there looking at the shelf in front of me, wondering what synrchronous purpose had brought me there. I picked up a copy of the complete Lewis Carroll and “just happened” to open to the poem “Four Riddles” from 1869, which contained these lines:
“There comes a welcome summons- hope revives, And fading eyes
grow bright, and pulses quicken:
Incessant pop the corks, and busy knives Dispense the tongue and
chicken.”
This is unreal, worthy of Alice herself since I had stopped at Village Crossing to get a picture frame and wound up in Half-Price books reluctantly, thinking about F. Scott Fitzgeral, E.E. Cummings, and Ernest Hemingway. Obviously I was also thinking about Herman Melville, since I’ve been reading Moby Dick, and then picked up Carroll, looking for some hint and read this bizarre reference to eating tongue, which was then echoed in the Buffy episode that night.
Buffynicity #3:
I saw West Side Story last Wednesday and in it one of the white guys was singing “La Cucaracha” which was a song I knew as a kid but which I haven’t heard in decades. Then tonight –
JONATHAN
I’m gonna go to the bathroom. (stands and leaves the room)
ANDREW
(singing to himself in bed) La cucaracha. La cucaracha. La la la la la. (turns over, and sees Warren/First leaning over him)
That’s a definite echo in time, as I never ever hear that song. Not in years.
Buffynicity #4:
This episode is called “Storyteller”. It relates to the Buffynicity I had of Andrew and his “big board” a couple of days ago. And it also relates to Lewis Carroll, and the other authors I was thinking of this afternoon, including a conversation I had this morning on Facebook about T.S. Eliot and e.e. cummings and this literary trip I’m on, having finished Wuthering Heights and started on Moby Dick.
The Lewis Carroll Buffynicity about “eating tongue” is also related to the telling of stories and I have to wonder about all this imagery related to stories and writing.
Now on to transits:
I was on a huge Nine Inch Nails binge yesterday, which has continued into today. Mostly I’m listening to “The Fragile”. When it came out I picked a couple of songs and focused on them, but now I’m really enjoying the whole thing. I went online and discovered that coincidentally, NIN is releasing a new single this week. I guess he’s making waves in the collective unconsciousn. Kara really likes NIN, and I think this had a lot to do with yesterdays Mars trine with Chiron, bringing back the old feelings from this 18 year old album. Of course I was also thinking a lot about The Darkening, and reading Moby Dick which is defnitely related to the Moon square of Mercury.
Moon iconjunct Saturn produced the expected rush for time, with a couple of last minute projects coming up, but they went by fast.
Venus trining Jupiter was spectacular, Kara is bringing very deep visions of the afterlife, erasing all that went before, rearranging my understanding of all the daydreams I’ve been having.
I got home and fell asleep early, didn’t run or anything. And as I said I woke up to a bona fide dream of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which only shows the integration of the visions I’m having.
Moon in Gemini is very flaky and unfocused, as expected, but I feel pretty good anyway.
Mercury trined Saturn in the afternoon. I was still rocking the Nine Inch Nails all day, thinking about the new album coming out, feeling like my life is finally making sense and that Kara may be rapidly preparing me to do full channeling for the public. She’s resolving long-standing issues with great clarity and speed. Anything could happen. The future is wide open, and I haven’t felt that way in decades. I think this transit also had something to do with my literary Buffynicity this evening.
The Moon will square Neptune late tonight, but I’ll be asleep.
Tomorrow will be loaded, with the Moon conjuncting Venus and Mars entering Leo. Moon opposing Saturn in the afternoon will be interesting. I have no idea what to expect, except possibly some kind of time crisis – which I don’t want to bring about by focusing on it, but we’ll see.
Venus inconjuncts Pluto and the Moon squares Venus tomorrow night during Brian’s astrology salon, so I’m expecting some big visions and insights into what I’m doing in this crazy world.
