The Buffy Diaries 7-20-2017

The Buffynicities just got bigger.

Buffynicity #1:  Weeks ago, while I was watching season #5, I wound up watching the episode in which Buffy finds her mother dead on the sofa on the same day I found out that Chris Cornell had killed himself.  This set off a massive string of Buffynicities which I still look back on as a major peak.  During season 7 I’ve felt that the Buffynicities have died down a bit, I’m not even looking for them so much as I have turned my attention to The Darkening.  However yesterday I had some spectacular literary allusions, with a specific reference to Lewis Carroll that will live as one of the high points of this months-long working.  It got more intense today when they chained Spike to a wall and made him relive the vampirizing and killing of his mother, for the proposed solution to the first riddle was “commemoration, monstrosities”.  The actual solution that has been given is different however, "quasi insanity, monstrosities” is what comes up.  Both fit perfectly.  Furthermore, the other answers to the riddles also have much relation to this event.  Riddle two is “Ellen Terry”, an actress Carroll saw in a performance of Hamlet.  Number three is “Galatea”, the statue who becomes real for Pygmalion.  Number four is “Imagination” or “I magi nation”.  This is all related to the ghosts of the storytellers I have been seeing for the last two days, and the emergence of Kara from my imagination.

Furthermore,
Buffynicity #2:  On the 17th I reported that I had a vision of a man hanging himself, the legendary evil producer of Doctor Who who sabotaged Tom Baker.  And then almost immediately Chloe hanged herself in her bedroom.  I thought this was enough to record but then today I found that Chris Cornells’ friend Chester Bennington killed himself by hanging and was found today.  I think that counts as a resonance, especially since the articles I’ve seen all report that he was a friend of Chris Cornell.  So these things are related.

Coming on top of Buffynicity #1, this is actually the biggest day in a while.

Buffynicity #3:  This afternoon I was thinking about when Linkin Park was first getting popular with that depressing song “In the End”, and how I would get them mixed up with Limp Bizkit, whose lead singer’s name is Fred Durst.  I kept wanting to call him “Fred”.  I made the mistake several times and then I dismissed it but then tonight came the call to Willow:

ANDREW
(holding the phone) Uh, Willow…call for you from L.A. Somebody named Fred. The guy sounds kind of effeminate.

Buffynicity #4:  There was another secret Buffynicity which I’m just going to mention here but not explain regarding the return of Faith.

Buffynicity #5:  It started raining last night and was still raining heavily when I went to work this morning, and it rained in tonight’s episode.

Buffynicity #6:  The workshop that appeared in my dream of Buffy was echoed that night in the workshop that appeared that night:

20a      INT.      EVIL WORKSHOP – DAY
An chemistry laboratory has been set up on the table, complete with bubbling colored liquids in an elaborate set of interconnected tubes, vials and beakers. Ultra-suave Andrew, in a black suit, black shirt, and black tie, is talking to geeky Jonathan and Warren, who are dressed in jeans and t-shirts and protective eye goggles..

And then tonight in Robin Wood’s sanctuary.

20     EXT.     WORKSHOP AT ROBIN’S PLACE – NIGHT
Robin’s unlocking the door to a shed.

SPIKE
 You live in the garage?

ROBIN
This is just a work room. Kind of my, uh, sanctuary. (walks in, Spike follows)

Buffynicity #7:  As I just posted on Tumblr, on the 18th I had a conversation of Facbook with a guy about an e.e. cummings poem, “Buffalo Bill’s Defunct”.  It ends with the line “How do you like your blue-eyed boy Mister Death”.  This is what had me thinking all about writers and stopping at half-price books for the big Lewis Carrol Buffynicity to begin with.  Then tonight, at the start of “Dirty Girls” Caleb says this:

CALEB
Well, they ain’t exactly my “blue eyed boys” but they’re hard workers. And they don’t truck with Satan—that was just me having fun. (looks at Shannon) Satan is a little man. (Shannon reaches for the steering wheel, but he pushes her away, pinning her against the seat, then shakes his finger at her) I don’t like back-seat drivers.

So that was a pretty spectacular ending to a list of seven Buffynicities, tying for longest yet.  And I haven’t even started on transits:

I was asleep when the Moon conjuncted Venus this morning, but I was feeling pretty good as Mars entered Leo while I was riding the train downtown.  Mars in Leo is very self-satisfied and lazy for me.  I can tell this is how it’s going to be for a while.  I’m just totally convinced right now that I’m in the right place at the right time and of course Kara is helping me.  We are rocking out to Nine Inch Nails and getting over past bullshit.  I think the Moon inconjunct Pluto had to do with listening to NIN and reassessing the role of the rock star in human evolution.  My own channeling experiences are now powerful enough to override the psychic imperatives of my youthful addictions to music.  I’m seeing a lot of images of musicians and my occult understanding of them is changing dramatically.

The Moon opposed Saturn in the afternoon and it was very obvious.  I purchased the new NIN EP, “Add Violence” online, and signed up for the website, which makes me an official fan.  And it was right about that time I found out that Chester Bennington had died, which freaked me out because of the Buffynicity above – more evidence that Saturn transits affect the flow of time and atemporal connections.

The Moon sextiled Mercury while I was running and racking up that massive string of Buffynicities.  I was a little late for the salon so the Moon inconjuncted Pluto and the Sun squared Uranus before I got to Brian’s – but the power of the Buffynicities was intense enough to validate the transits.  That last one about the “blue-eyed boy” really freaked me out, as it came right at the end, when I’d given up.  And now here I am on one of my most Buffynicitous days ever.

I’ve stayed up late tonight catching up on laundry and sweeping floors.  The Moon will sextile Uranus in about twenty minutes, but hopefully I’ll be asleep.

Nothing going on tomorrow except I note that the Moon will trine Neptune tomorrow night while I’m watching Valerian, for which I already have my ticket.

Saturday the Sun will enter Leo while I’m on the way to see the Rolling Stones exhibit at navy pier.  Moon will trine Chiron late that night.  I wonder what I’ll be thinking?

I’m going to miss Blondie at Ravinia.  I hope they tour again next year.
